South Central Calhoun’s varsity football team opened up Class 1A, District 2 play with an impressive 54-0 victory over Ogden to move to 1-0 in the district and to 5-0 overall. The Titans amassed 469 totals yards to only 166 total for the Bulldogs. SCC’s defense held Ogden to minus-12 total rushing yards for the contest in the win.
“It was great to open up district play with a win tonight over a very good Ogden team,” said SCC head coach Bryan Case. “Our kids came out and played well, for the most part. I think we lost focus in the second quarter, but the team managed to get back on track to finish the game. We’ll always have things that we need to work on and improve, but I also feel like this team is just starting to come into its own. We have another huge road test next week at South Hamilton. We’ll need to be clicking on all cylinders in order to give ourselves a shot in that one.”
Keagen Meyer had a big night for the Titans in Ogden as he scored four touchdowns including a 58-yard reception from Cole Corey in the first quarter, a 70-yard kickoff return for a score to open the second half, on a 15-yard run in the third quarter and on a 49-yard run in the fourth quarter. He finished with six carries for 68 yards on the ground and had four catches for 106 yards for the game.
