SCC girls third at Kruse Co-Ed Relays
Three gold medals were earned by the South Central Calhoun varsity girls track team at the 2017 Brad Kruse Co-Ed Relays held Thursday, April 13, in Manson. The Titans as a team placed third overall with 94 points as Pocahontas Area/Laurens- Marathon was first with 154 and Alta- Aurelia was second in the team standings with 126.5 points.
SCC’s sprint medley relay, distance medley relay and Allison Birks in the 100-meter dash were victorious at the meet. In the sprint medley, the team of Jessica Hicks, Keagan King, Birks and Sydney Batz posted the winning time of 1 minute, 56.33 seconds. The distance medley team of King, Maddie Jones, Sydney Batz and Megan Hardy won the event in 4:43.46, and Birks won the 100 in 13.39.
Second place medalists for SCC included Emma McKinney in the 400 in 1:05.49 and the 4x200 and 4x100 relays as well. The 4x200 relay team of Hicks, Sydney Batz, King and Birks posted a time of 1:51.36, while the 4x100 relay of Hicks, Sydney Batz, Jones and Birks earned silver in 53.31.
