Twin Lakes Golf Course hosting Make-A-Wish fundraiser

There are things in life that people just don’t fully understand until they go through them themselves, Linda Ramthun says.
One of those things is just how amazing a Make-A-Wish trip can be for a family with a sick or disabled child. Ramthun’s grandson suffered a traumatic brain injury, which forced him to use a wheelchair and need round-the-clock care.
“It’s a constant worry,” Ramthun said of the kind of care family members provide for her grandson.
This year, his family was able to travel to Disney World, thanks to the Make-A-Wish program, providing a needed break from some of those duties. Even more important, Ramthun said, is how Make-A-Wish takes care of every detail, down to finding a vehicle that can accommodate a wheelchair. For Disney trips, the organization has a home equipped for children with special needs. Everything is taken care of, she said.
