Titans advance to regional volleyball final

A 2017 Class 3A state volleyball tournament berth is on the line for the South Central Calhoun Titans volleyball team Monday, Oct. 30, at Denison-Schleswig High School in Denison as the Titans face Kuemper Catholic (37-2) in the Class 3A, Region 2 Final for a chance to play at the 2017 Class 3A state tournament in Cedar Rapids next week.
The Titans advanced to the Regional Final with at 3-1 victory over Roland-Story in Story City Tuesday, Oct. 24 as SCC won the match 25-23, 15-25, 25-22 and 25-15 to improve to 35-7 overall.
Sophomore Emma McKinney led the Titans against the Norsemen in the regional semifinal round with 20 kills. Teammate Hannah Seil had 18 kills and Teylor Anderson finished with 45 assists against Roland-Story. Heidi Hammen finished with a team-high four blocks in the victory while Maddie Jones led the Titans in digs with 21.
Finishing third on the team in kills against Roland-Story were Hammen and Haley Stauter with seven kills each while Anderson finished with five kills.
