Editor's Note: The scrimmages are held for this Friday in Lake City. We also added dates for the season openers for South Central Calhoun volleyball, cross country and football, compared to that of the print edition.

The season is almost here, should you be a huge fan of high school athletics.

The South Central Calhoun volleyball and football teams are preparing for their return to the court and gridiron, welcoming in spectators for the annual Gatorade Scrimmage, slated for this Friday at the SCC High School Gymnasium and Titan Stadium in Lake City.

The Titan volleyball players will begin at 4:30 p.m., and the SCC football team starts at 6:30 p.m.

Before teammates face off against teammates in front of a live audience, all three of the Titan fall sports programs – cross country, volleyball and football – will host their respective media days. The cross country team will have their photos taken at 3 p.m., followed by the SCC volleyball team at 3:30 p.m.

Football will then group up for their individual and team photos at 5:30 p.m.

Volleyball then scrimmages once more at 9 a.m. next Saturday at the SCC Middle School Gymnasium in Rockwell City. On August 24, the Titans will start their 2021 season with a highly anticipated matchup with Ridge View, slated for 5:30 p.m. next Tuesday at the Schaller-Crestland Elementary School Gymnasium in Schaller.

On August 26, the SCC cross country teams begin their campaign at the Southeast Valley Invitational, which starts at 4 p.m. next Thursday at the Gowrie Municipal Golf Course.

The Titan football team then revs up its season with an old rival, squaring off against East Sac County at 7 p.m. next Friday at Raider Field in Wall Lake.

It will be the first meeting between SCC and the Raiders since August 30, 2019, when the Titans blanked ESC via a 44-0 result. In the all-time series between the Titans and the Raiders, SCC currently holds an 8-1 advantage.
