Titan girls now 7-0, 2-0 in TLC

South Central Calhoun won three times in as many tries last week in varsity girls basketball action to improve to 7-0 overall and moved to 2-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Titans most recently defeated GT/RA 50-42 in Ruthven Friday, Dec. 8 in conference play led by Maddie Jones with 26 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Heidi Hammen scored 10 points and collected five rebounds at Ruthven while Hannah Seil scored six points and had eight rebounds and teammate Emma McKinney had four points and five rebounds to go with three blocked shots and two steals against GT/RA.
GT/RA led 7-2 after the first quarter and was up 26-21 at the half. SCC outscored GT/RA 11-4 in the third quarter to grab a 32-30 lead heading into the fourth period.
SCC was 16-for-43 from the floor and 17-for-24 from the free throw line against GT/RA. Jones finished 8-for-8 from the line in the win. SCC defeated Webster City Tuesday, Dec. 5 in Rockwell City 48-40 as Jones led the Titans with 23 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Both Hammen and McKinney had seven points each against the Lynx and Seil scored four points and had six rebounds.
