Titan girls golfers beat PAC in opener

Kelsi Carlson earned meet medalist honors for South Central Calhoun and the Titans girls varsity golf team opened the 2017 season with a victory over Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon Thursday, April 6 at Lake City Country Club as SCC scored a 228 and the Indians finished with a 236. Carlson was medalist with a 47 while Kristen Haley of PAC/L-M was runner-up with a 51.
Also playing varsity against PAC/L-M were Tiffany Poen with a 57, Payton Macke and Vanessa Squier both with a score of 62, Kaylynn Kruckenberg with a 66 and Megan Decker with a 99.
The following day, Friday, April 7, SCC traveled to Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge to take on the St. Edmond Gaels and fell by three strokes 210 to 213. Again, Carlson earned medalist honors at the meet with a43 while Riley Mayer of St. Edmond was runner-up with a 45.
