Shirley Henderson

Shirley M. Henderson, age 89, of Rockwell City, Iowa, formerly of Storm Lake, died Nov. 16, 2021 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Shirley Mae Henderson was born May 20,1932 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Omer “Bud” and Gladys (Nagel) Combes.

Shirley was a member of the Storm Lake Order of the Rainbow Girls and worked as a telephone operator while attending high school. She graduated from Storm Lake High School on May 26, 1950. On Oct. 18, 1950, Shirley was united in marriage to Robert L. Henderson in Jackson, Minnesota. They were blessed with two children: Christy June and Robert Kenton.

Shirley worked at the BV County Courthouse in Storm Lake as a deputy in the Treasurer’s Department for several years. She worked with her husband as a photographer at Bob Henderson Photography for 16 years. Shirley, along with her husband Bob were instrumental in setting up Santa’s Castle for 18 years. Prior to her retirement, Shirley worked at Silk Screen Ink in Storm Lake. Most of all, family was very important to Shirley. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Bob Henderson; children: Christy (Rick) Ramthun of Rockwell City; Rob (Pat) Henderson of Lake Jackson, Texas; grandchildren: Amy (Jim) Chevalier of New Prague, Minnesota; Ann (Ben) Sassman of Webb; great-grandchildren: Hailey Curran; Harper and Emma Sassman; extended family and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Gladys Combes and parents-in-law, Louis and Audrey Henderson.
