SCC kicks off the 2018-19 school year

Two days before classes began last week, South Central Calhoun High School guidance counselor Brian Knapp witnessed what he called the epitome of the Titan way.
First, he said, was how hard the girls volleyball team played in what was ultimately a loss.
“You climbed a big mountain,” Knapp told team members and the rest of the student body Thursday morning, during the high school’s opening assembly. “You were awesome to watch. You handled yourselves with great sportsmanship.”
But it was what happened between the junior varsity and varsity matches that caught the attention of Ridge View High School visitors. Knapp had asked one person to find him some help to clean up and reset the court for the varsity game. When Knapp turned around a minute later, some 30 to 40 people were there, asking what they could do to help.
