Rick Nielsen is the Founder and President of Blueprint For Life, Inc. He is a speaker, magician, juggler and humorist. Combining his talents he provides motivational, inspirational and entertaining to his programs.
With over 30 years of commitment to volunteerism, Rick has shared his time and talents with thousands of inmates and correctional officers in over 1,000 of America's toughest prisons. He's teamed up with professional athletes, as well as other entertainers to effectively communicate a message of hope that will last a lifetime. Among all of this, he also speaks with many student bodies and christian groups to share his message.
Today was no different, as Rick Nielsen effortlessly captivated an auditorium full of students at South Central Calhoun's high school auditorium on Wednesday.
He opened with a quick, yet kind of embarrassing personal story about himself on a flight. Mariah Pagel, a SCC sophomore, was called as a volunteer to assist in his next portion of his program. He held up a newspaper, explaining that it's not uncommon that on every page that we read, there could be very negative news. So if people read nothing but negative news, it could effect the way they think.
His solution? Let's tear it up! He gave Mariah half of the newspaper and he instructed her to follow him as they continued to rip and crumple up the entire newspaper.
Rick quoted philosopher, Ralph Waldo Emerson by saying, "What a person thinks about, it feeds into their mind all day long. That's exactly what they'll become." He took the crumpled half of newspaper from Mariah and combined them together and with a whip of his hands the paper magically became a whole and unharmed newspaper again.
