SCC girls win Raider Relays title

South Central Calhoun’s varsity girls track team won its first meet title of the season Friday, April 7, at the Raider Relays in Sac City as the Titans scored 191 team points for the crown. Rival Manson Northwest Webster was second with 158. SCC won seven events and placed second in five additional events at the Raider Relays.
Winning individual gold medals for SCC at Sac City were Allison Birks in the 100 meter dash in 12.47 seconds, Megan Hardy in the 1,500 in 5 minutes, 54.13 seconds and also in the 3,000 in 12:44.91, Sydney Batz in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:16.06 and Raegan Welander in the high jump as she cleared 4-feet, 4-inches. SCC’s 4x100 meter relay team of Jessica Hicks, Sydney Batz, Keagan King and Birks earned golf in 53.63 while the 4x200 relay squad of Hicks, Sydney Batz, Maddie Jones and Birks won in 1:53.88. The Titans sprint medley team of Hicks, King, Sydney Batz and Birks was first in 1:59.66.
Second place efforts for SCC at the Raider Relays included King in the 100 in 13.16, Emma McKinney in the 400 dash in 1:07.69, Arianna Kistler in the 400 hurdles in 1:19.80, Kim Daisy in the shot put with a toss of 33-5.5 and the Titans shuttle hurdle relay team of Hicks, Arianna Kistler, Welander and King in 1:15.13.
