SCC Elementary’s Henely receives prestigious teaching award

When the students, faculty and staff gathered in the Multipurpose Room of the South Central Calhoun Elementary School on April 3 in Rockwell City, the reason for the assembly was quite fuzzy.
There were some who believed that the SCC Jazz Band would play for the youngsters and their teachers, as the Titans had made 23 consecutive appearances to the Iowa Jazz Championships. Other reasons for bringing everyone together was for achievements related to reading, writing, science or arithmetic.
But, something was different this time around. There were television cameras situated around the spacious room, rather than a plethora of chairs taken up by older students and musical instruments.
