When you're out on your dance routine, you have to be in it to win it. After all, dance can embody many things, ranging from a performance that requires hours of practice to an art form that demands grace and perfect timing.

When it comes to it, the South Central Calhoun Dance Team can do it all, and came home with hardware to prove it.

The Titans fared well at the Iowa State Dance Championships, held last Thursday at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, hauling in a third place showing in the Class II Light category and fourth place outing in the Class I Contemporary Dance division.

The team is comprised of five seniors in Jaylin Janssen, Haley Schumacher, Raegan Welander, Kennadie Dowling and Sam Fister. Complementing the five are Madison Monahan, Macy Macke, Mackenzie Monahan, SaraJo Talbott, Mikayla Monahan, Kierstin Morrow and Rachel Best.

The SCC Dance Team is guided by Theresa Hildreth and Marae Erkenbrack.

The dance team will be in action this weekend, performing at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at the SCC Middle School Gymnasium in Rockwell City.
