South Central Calhoun’s varsity boys basketball team won its fifth straight contest of the 2017-18 season as action resumed for the Titans Friday, Jan. 5 against St. Mary’s in Storm Lake. The Titans, who improved to 5-6 overall and to 2-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference, defeated the Panthers by a 79-69 final.
“It was another game which was close throughout with several lead changes and that is always valuable experience,” said SCC head coach Clive Clark. “Players did a great job of responding to the situation.”
The Titans, who trailed 22-16 after the first period, outscored St. Mary’s 29-19 in the second period to lead 45-41 at the half. SCC held a narrow 53-51 lead after three periods of play.
Jared Birks led the Titans with 23 points, 10 steals eight rebounds and two blocked shots in the win while Zane Neubaum had 21 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists.
