A total of 12 events for the South Central Calhoun varsity boys track team will be heading to the 2018 Class 2A Boys State Track Meet in Des Moines this week held from Thursday, May 17 through Saturday, May 18, following the teams strong team effort at the 2A State Qualifying Meet held at Manson Thursday, May 10.
“I thought we had a great night, despite the Iowa weather,” said SCC head coach Bryan Case of the State Qualifying Meet at Manson. “We won the district title, managed 10 automatic qualifiers and have a few more possibilities. Overall, I thought our team rose to the occasion and their efforts paid off. Hopefully, we can stay healthy over the next week and have a great showing at state.”
Earning automatic state berths for this year’s state meet from SCC at the Qualifying Meet included Chase McAlister in the 400 and 800, Spencer Moon in the 1,600 and 3,200, Josh Van Hulzen in the 110 meter high hurdles, and the Titans 4x200, 4x400, Distance medley, sprint medley and shuttle hurdle relays. Also earning at large berths for this week’s state meet for SCC were Colton Bahr in the high jump, Moon in the 800 and the Titans 4x100 relay squad as well.
