There are plenty of reasons why the South Central Calhoun boys’ basketball team has been consistent over the past several years. One of those reasons involves developing its up-and-coming players.

In an announcement made by SCC head boys’ basketball coach Clive Clark, the Titan basketball program will host a free camp for boys entering fifth through eighth grade from July 19 to July 22. The Monday and Wednesday camps will take place at the SCC Middle School Gymnasium in Rockwell City and the Tuesday and Thursday camps will be held at the SCC High School Gymnasium in Lake City.

The dates are intended to avoid as many swim meets and baseball games as possible, and Coach Clark will conduct the camp.

For Monday and Wednesday, campers are advised to enter the gym through the northeast doors, and asked to enter the high school gym through the north gym doors on Tuesday and Thursday.

Hours for the camp are from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the doors will open at 12:45 p.m. The camp will include one-on-one, two-on-two and three-on-three skills and competition.

If a player would like to attend the camp, a parent or guardian should email Coach Clark at cclark@scc.k12.ia.us, with the name of the player and the grade he will be entering this fall.

The player should bring to camp a water bottle filled with cold water or sports drink and with his name indicated on the bottle. For more and future information, you can visit coach Clark’s website at http://cliveclark.weebly.com/scc-boys-high-hoops.html.

Please note that the above information includes some changes in dates and times, due to the SCC high school team participating in an event on July 23. The times on July 19 through July 22 have now been lengthened.
