The City Council of Rockwell City addressed a property that was in despair before approving its demolition as the focal point of its latest meeting, which took place on June 17 at City Hall in Rockwell City.
Along with the move to demolish the property, the council passed three resolutions, gave Mayor Phil Heinlen and City Clerk Kelly Smidt to pay final bills and approved to use stainless steel piping for the repair of Well #5 in a meeting that lasted an hour and a half.
Following the approval of the agenda with an addition, the previous meeting’s minutes, bills and licenses, the council went into the public forum portion of the meeting with Alma Zuniga.
Zuniga told the council that she would like one more month to rehabilitate a residence off of the 600-block of Main Street, which had fallen in a state of disrepair. The council responded, informing Zuniga that the roof and windows had not been replaced nor had demolished the garage as promised on multiple occasions.
