Public Health may switch WIC providers

Calhoun County Public Health are looking to switch providers for the Women, Infants and Children program, after Administrator Barb Riley received permission for the change from the county’s Board of Health.
Five years ago, the Webster County Public Health Department applied for the state grant on Calhoun County’s behalf, but did not receive it, Riley said. New Opportunities in Carroll currently provides WIC services here, and they can also apply for the grant, Riley said. That organization provides its own staff to meet with county residents who qualify for WIC; if Webster County were to receive the grant, they would call on Calhoun County staff to run the WIC clinics.
