Pete Savage

Pete Savage, 94, died on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Lampe & Powers Funeral Home in Lake City with burial following in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Lampe & Powers Funeral Home.

Earl Dwight Savage, better known as “Pete”, was born on Sept. 3, 1927, in rural Calhoun County, to Charles and Carrie (Daisy) Savage. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1947. On Dec. 29, 1949, Pete married Mary Ann Goins in Dubuque, and together they celebrated 71 years of marriage. Pete worked as branch manager for Farmer’s Coop in Lake City then owned and operated Second Wind, a furniture refinishing business in Lake City with his son, Bob. He was a jack of all trades, and master of many; and he enjoyed woodworking and storytelling. Pete was a member of the Carroll Church of Christ and Jaycees, where he served as President.

Pete is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Lake City; children Bill (Debbie) Savage of Lake City, Bob (Patty) Savage of Halbur, Christi Savage of Lake City and Shelley (Dan) Schaffer of Auburn; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Joyce Babcock of Farnhamville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter Kyra Marie Savage; brothers Clifford and Charles III; and sisters Beulah Veerhusen and Evelyn Reitmeier.
