With the conclusion of the 2019 softball season in the state of Iowa, the Twin Lakes Conference had more than its fair share of representation.
This display of TLC power was through Class 2A State Runner-up Alta-Aurelia and Newell-Fonda’s fourth overall spot in the Class 1A portion of the Iowa Girls’ High School State Softball Tournament.
Along with the stellar showings of the Mustangs and Warriors, along with Southeast Valley’s finish in the Class 3A regional finals, the South Central Calhoun softball team displayed that the times within the TLC’s power structure is beginning to change.
With their Class 2A-Region 5 semifinals finish and an 11-13 record under head coach John Kennedy, the Titans emerged as the fifth place squad in the TLC’s pecking order and had four players named to All-Twin Lakes Conference squads in a news release this past Friday by the conference.
Spearheading the four SCC representatives is departing infielder Maddie Jones, who was named to the First Team squad in the TLC. Sophomore pitcher Sally Musselman was placed on the conference’s Second Team, while incoming freshman Keira Hammen and sophomore Kortney Riley received Honorable Mention.
