Iowa Corn Growers donation should pay off final lawsuit bills, supervisors say

A $20,000 donation to the Sac County Legal Defense Fund, to which donations to cover the legal bills of three counties sued by the Des Moines Water Works lawsuit have been directed, should be enough to pay off the last of the attorney bills.
The Iowa Corn Growers Association made the donation to the counties, presented to the Calhoun County Board of Supervisors, last week.
“Our board was very relieved” when a federal judge ruled in favor of Calhoun, Buena Vista and Sac counties earlier this year, ICGA Director of Research and Development Rodney Williamson told the board after presenting the check. “They were very concerned. This could set a precedent for the whole state or whole nation.”
