Incumbents return to RC Council, write-ins round out some uncontested tickets

David Dawson and John Hepp will return to the Rockwell City Council for another term, following Tuesday’s city elections. Dawson received the most votes of any candidate, 146. Hepp received 132. Challenger Keaton Graffunder received 63 votes in his unsuccessful bid to join the council.
Incumbent Rockwell City Mayor Phil Heinlen will return to office after receiving 176 votes.
In Lake City, incumbents Doug Filmer and Tami Green were re-elected, while new Nick Gorden will fill the seat vacated by Tony Snyder. Gorden received 78 votes, Filmer 76 and Green 54.
Lohrville Council candidates Carter Kinney and Jillian Parker were each elected to open seats; Kinney received 54 votes, while Parker received 42. Write-in candidate Lance Coon will fill a third open seat with 11 votes.
In Somers, Terry Vote defeated Rod Scott with 28 votes to 17 votes. Tom Beacom, Rickey O. Chase, Vicki Chase, Daniel J. Goodwin and Alan Niceswanger were all re-elected to the city council. A ballot measure about terms on the library board passed with 39 yes votes and four no votes.
All three candidates for Yetter City Council – Bill Courter, Rod Hart and William Scarf – received six votes. Mayoral candidate Norman Roller also won his seat with six votes.
In Rinard, Ken Johnson was elected mayor with six votes. Ken Sibbit, six votes, Wendy Holm, seven votes, and Scott Nelson, two votes, were elected to the city council.
In Jolley, Jim Johnson was elected to be mayor with seven votes. Write-in candidates Marvin Ashbrook, Lori Schaffer, Doug Aden, Don Eldridge and Rod Johnson were elected to city council.
David George was elected Manson mayor with 221 votes. In a contested city council race for three seats, the top three votegetters were Dave Anderson, 212 votes, Steve Smothers, 172 votes and Mark Egli, 134 votes. Unsuccessful candidates were Lonny Nimke with 123 votes and Paul E. Zeka with 64 votes. In a write-in campaign for park board, Adam Ramthun, Toby Beneke and Brandon Bush were elected to serve terms.
Pomeroy elected Brian Meyer mayor with 64 votes, while Dennis Ehn, with 61 votes, and Amellia Pederson with 20 write-in votes, were elected to council.
Richard Larsen Jr., seven votes, Jeff Nelsen, eight votes, and Kenneth Schreiber, eight votes, were elected to fill three positions on the Knierim City Council.
A contested race for three Farnhamville City Council seats saw Troy Jepsen, 62 votes, Sherry Barber, 56 votes, and Joseph Robertson, 46 votes, prevail. Unsuccessful in their bids were Shawna Carter, who received 34 votes, Matthew John Mitchell, who received 18 votes and Justin Johnson, who received nine votes. Rita Kail was uncontested in the mayoral contest and received 79 votes.
These results are preliminary and not official until the Calhoun Count Board of Supervisors canvasses them.
