Hospital administrators stress importance of care in rural areas during King visit

A federal program that helps reduce medication costs for certain health care organizations is a big help for Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, CEO Cindy Carstens told Rep. Steve King May 29.
That program “helped us continue to provide services here,” Carstens said.
One of the services the hospital is able to offer that serves area residents is obstetric care and delivery. The hospital delivers about 100 babies a year.
“I always hear that at our rural hospitals and critical access hospitals,” King said of the praise for the 340b program.
King used the meeting with hospital administrators and city officials to reiterate his desire to see the Affordable Health Care Act completely repealed.
“I think Congress owes the American people a definitive answer on health insurance,” he said.
