Hendricks to reach milestone birthday Nov. 7

It started with a video, shot by Ed Schaffer, of his 109-year-old grandmother, Bessie Hendricks.
In the video, Bessie is seen signing “You are My Sunshine,” one of her favorite tunes. Schaffer shared the video with KCRG, a television station in Cedar Rapids. The video was quickly shared to other television stations, and it caught fire online, with people across the country sharing it, Bessie’s daughters said last week.
Bessie doesn’t know much about social media or how widespread her video has become – daughter Glenda Hendricks said her mom is content to watch a few television programs on a regular basis, and she rests a lot.
Bessie will turn 110 Nov. 7.
