Fire Department gives kids a close up look at fire safety equipment

Rockwell City firefighters posed questions to South Central Calhoun Elementary students Friday, as the students had an opportunity to learn about fire safety.
“You guys all know what to do if you’re on fire?” Jared Solko asked a group of preschoolers. “Does everybody know stop, drop and roll?”
He offered a bit more info about why stopping, falling to the ground and rolling around was the right way to extinguish a fire on someone’s clothes.
“If you run, it makes it worse,” Solko said.
