County pays last $12,000 in DMWW lawsuit bills

The final bills for the Des Moines Water Works lawsuit came to about $12,000.
Between donations from individuals, industry groups and other counties, plus a $25,000 insurance payment, Calhoun County will only be out about $15,000 of taxpayer funds, supervisors said last week. They voted Nov. 28 to pay those last bills – a little more than $10,000 in attorney fees and about $1,100 to the Sac County auditor for the time she spent collecting documents to respond to a Freedom of Information Act request from the Storm Lake Times.
Supervisors Chairman Scott Jacobs said he wanted to extend a “big thank you for all those who supported” the county.
