Heidi Hammen likes working with sheep.
“They’re kind of easy to work with,” Hammen said Friday before the sheep show.
But the heifer she raised is even easier to show, she said.
Hammen talked as she used a blower to dry her sheep.
“We just washed them,” she said. “We’ll check to make sure the wool is smooth.”
Hammen has two sheep for the fair. She’s been raising and showing the animals for six year.
She lives on a farm, which makes raising and caring for the animals easier, too, she said. She gets her sheep in February, helps to feed them and walks them regularly. In early July, she trimmed the wool, in preparation for the fair.
She enjoys being in 4-H, she said.
