Elderbridge Agency on Agency served more than 17,000 meals in Calhoun County through the congregate meals and home-delivered meals programs in the fiscal year that ran from July 2017 through June 2018.
“Meals is where we’re serving the highest number of residents in your county,” Sandi Jackson, Director of Lifelong Links for Elderbridge, told the Calhoun County Board of Supervisors Nov. 20. “They’re very popular. And we’re projecting even higher numbers (this year).”
Jackson asked the board for a slight increase in contributions – a 5-cent per senior raise, bringing the county’s contribution $2.90 per person who is 60 or older living in Calhoun County. For this fiscal year, that would be a total of $8,390 for the nearly 3,000 seniors living here. That’s 29 percent of county residents who are 60 or older.
