SCC girls' golfers wrap up season, Steig qualifies for regional finals
Throughout the 2021 spring sports season, the South Central Calhoun girls' golf team has seen new players rise to prominence, with plenty of positive results. One of the most notable players to emerge was junior Sayer Steig.
Steig's journey will continue onward, as the junior took fourth overall at the Class 2A Regional Girls' Golf Tournament, which was held this past Monday at Clarmond Country Club in Clarion.
The top six individuals (who are not affiliated with a qualifying team) advance to the Regional Finals, which are scheduled for 10 a.m. on May 24 at the Eagle Grove Golf Course.
Overall, the Titans left the regional meet with 473 strokes and a sixth place outing. Okoboji of Milford topped the team standings with 381 strokes, followed by Iowa Falls-Alden's 425 strokes. South Hamilton rounded out the top three by carding 435 strokes.

Sayer spearheaded the Titan girls at the first round of regionals, carding a total of 101 strokes. This was followed by junior Emma Anderson and Macy Macke, who each netted 122 strokes. S
Senior Sally Musselman dished up 128 strokes, followed by freshman Mia Babcock's 144 strokes. Lauren Korkow rounded out the Titan girls by carding a 156.
