Jeanne Lightner

Jeanne Lightner, 92, died on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Private family services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Lohrville. Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to: 2735 390th St., Lohrville, Iowa 51453.

Phyllisjean “Jeanne” (Mahe) Lightner was born on May 24, 1928 in Farnhamville, Iowa to William A. and Mabel (Brereton) Mahe. She graduated from Lohrville High School in 1945 then attended MacMurray College and Iowa State University. On June 8, 1947, Jeanne married G. Francis Lightner in Lake City. She was a member of Eastern Star, PEO, Monday Club, Book clubs in Lake City and Mesa, AZ, UMW and she was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Lohrville.

Jeanne is survived by her children Janet (T.J.) Croco of Amana, Joelyn (Michael) Gerovac of Des Moines and Kriss (Deb) Lightner of Lohrville; grandchildren Matthew (Elizabeth) Croco, Kathryn (Joseph) Michaels, Erinn Croco (Mark D’Agostino), Alana Croco (Logan Orcutt), Chad (Jenny) Bushman, Jamee (Eric) Carlson, Dirk (Jamie) Bushman, Sara Lightner (Marco Johnson), and Zac (Darci) Lightner; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Timothy.
