Steve Tasler
Steven Dean Tasler, age 70, of Churdan, IA, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Ft. Dodge, IA.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan with Fr. John Gerald as Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Patrick Tasler. Eucharistic Minister will be Tisha Harmeyer. Gift bearers will be his sisters: Marge, Lori, and Tina. Music for the Mass will be by the St. Columbkille Choir with Lois Last as organist and Greg Carrey as Cantor. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery near Lohrville with military honors conducted by the Churdan American Legion and the United States Air Force.
The family requests that those in attendance wear their favorite Iowa State Cyclones shirt.
Friends may call at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday evening. Additional visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. prior to the Mass.

Steve was born on September 10, 1950 in Lake City, IA, and he was the son of Donald and Lorinda (Pearson) Tasler. Steve grew up on his family’s farm near Adaza, IA, and graduated from Paton – Churdan High School in 1968. Following high school, Steve enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until 1974, and he was stationed in Cheyenne, WY. He was a graduate of Iowa State University. Steve was married to Brenda Sorenson in December of 1971 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan. The couple eventually established their home on a farm near Somers and to this union two children were born: Christopher and Marta. The couple later divorced. Steve loved farming, family, and his many good friends. He was an avid Iowa State Cyclones fan.
Steve is survived by a son Christopher Tasler of Grimes, IA; his daughter Marta Decker (Michael Ragsdale) of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters: Marge Griffith (Roger) of Audubon, Lori Bauer (Vaughn) of Paton, and Christina “Tina” Weierke (Tracy) of Farmington, MN; three brothers: Ronald Tasler (Marilyn) of Jefferson, Kim Tasler of Churdan, and Jay Tasler (Marcia) of Churdan; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Lorinda Tasler and a brother Randy Tasler.
