Students in Mrs. Bixenstine’s class will enter her room through the south doors to the main building. Students will wash their hands upon arrival. Staff will take student temperatures.
Meals – No meals will be served family style. All snacks will be individually pre-packaged and distributed by an adult.
Personal hygiene – Hand washing will be supervised at all times per the Head Start Performance Standards. Tooth brushing at school will be suspended for the time being.
Sanitizing – Surfaces and toys will be sanitized daily per the Head Start Performance Standards.
HIGH-RISK EMPLOYEES: Compromised health – Staff members with conditions that compromise their immunity or other conditions that increase their risk may request that the district provide personal protective equipment such as face masks and/or shields. They are also encouraged to talk to their supervisor regarding any tasks required of them that pose additional risk.
Associates - Staff members who work in very close proximity to students, especially those working 1:1 with special education students, may request that the district provide personal protective equipment such as face masks and/or shields. They are also encouraged to talk to their supervisor regarding any tasks required of them that pose additional risk.
ILL STAFF MEMBERS: Sick leave – Staff members who have temperatures of 100.3 or higher are required to stay/go home. They are not to return until they are fever free for 24 hours.
Staff members who know of exposure to COVID positive individuals, who experience fever and/or other symptoms, and/or have been tested for COVID, should consult with the school nurse and administration in regards to whether or not they can continue to work. Guidance will be sought from Public Health.
Current protocols call for 10 day quarantine for a positive test for COVID and 14 days for exposure to an individual who has tested positive.
Substitutes – Every effort will be made to ensure qualified substitutes are hired. In the event that a substitute is not available, the building principal will follow the established protocol for re-assigning available staff to cover for the absent staff.
ILL STUDENTS: Nurse’s Office – First aid supplies (Band-Aids) will be available to staff to keep in their classroom to minimize visits to the nurse’s and high school office. Students who complain of symptoms and/or are suspected of having fevers will be sent to the nurse’s office for assessment. The nurse will determine when students need to be sent home and if they need to be isolated until they are picked up.
Required absences – Students who are sent home or stay home due to a fever will be required to remain at home until they are fever free for 24 hours. Students who are asked to quarantine at home due to possible exposure and/or a positive test will continue their education using a distance learning model.
Students who have fevers and other symptoms and/or test positive for COVID will be allowed to return to school according to guidance provided by Public Health. Guidance will also be sought in regards to siblings.
Current protocols call for 10 day quarantine for an individual who tests positive and 14 day quarantine for an individual who has been exposed. Public Health will be consulted as to the need to quarantine siblings and/or cohorts.
GUESTS: Family members and other visitors will be discouraged from entering the building at this time. Parents who are dropping off/picking up students at times other than the regular schedule should call the office rather than enter the building. Your child/children will be sent out by the office. Guest speakers or other presentations should be done via technology. Volunteers will not be used at this time.
