Sandra Staley
Sandra Staley, 80 of Lake City, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at Accura Healthcare of Lake City. Sandra Lee was born Feb. 3, 1944, at Fort Dodge Lutheran Hospital to parents John and Lois (McPherson) Staley. She grew up in rural Rockwell City, and later moved to Lake City. Sandra graduated from Lake City High School with the class of 1962 and continued her education at St. Joseph Mercy College of Nursing and Medical Technology in Fort Dodge.
Throughout her life, Sandra worked as a medical technologist, nurse and pharmacy technician at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, McVay Memorial Hospital in Lake City, and Woodlawn Pharmacy in Lake City. She also owned an antique store and art gallery for 10 years, where she sold paintings all over the United States.
When she wasn’t busy working, Sandra was an active member of her community. She was a circle leader at the Methodist Church and a Central Committee Member of the Calhoun County Republican Party. She was also a member of the Lake City High School Alumni Board for 15 years, editor of the alumni newspaper, and a committee member for the Iowa Sesquicentennial. In her free time, you could find Sandra quilting, traveling, and painting.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister Sharon Staley of Lake City, IA, and several cousins and friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents John and Lois McPherson Staley, grandparents Robert and Gertie Staley and Mabel and Carl McPherson.
