For lovers of sweet corn, such as Trice Lyons (pictured), they will have to wait until next year, as Sweet Corn Daze, initially set for August 1, has been postponed to August 7, 2021. For those wanting to dig into some sweet corn, take part in some free games and watch the preliminaries for the Bill Riley Talent Show at the Iowa State Fair, they will have wait until next year.

The same goes for those who want to try out some area wineries, breweries and distilleries right in the heart of the seat of Calhoun County.

In two separate announcements made earlier this week, the Rockwell City Chamber & Development board voted to push back its Sip & Shop event and the 11th annual Sweet Corn Daze celebration to 2021. These postponements are due to growing COVID-19 concerns within Calhoun County.

The inaugural Sip & Shop event will now happen on May 7, 2021, while Sweet Corn Daze will now take place on August 7, 2021.

The original date for the Sip & Shop was initially set for May 8 at the Rockwell City Community Building. Sweet Corn Daze, which had been reduced from a three-day celebration to a one-day community event, was originally scheduled to occur on August 1.

This leaves the Calhoun County Expo, which has been downsized to a fair limited to 4-H members, their affiliates, show animals and exhibits, as the only slate of summer events to take place in Rockwell City.
