Come Election Day, the residents within the City with Everything but a Lake will choose between eight candidates for three open spots on the City Council of Lake City.

All together, there are three incumbents – Doug Filmer, Nick Gorden and Tami Green – and five challengers in Scott Bruns, Tiffany Green, Sheenie Janssen, Adam Wilson and Nicholle Winter.

To help voters create an informed decision before visiting the ballot on Nov. 2, The Graphic-Advocate will host a free public forum for the City Council Candidates, slated from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. next Tuesday at the South Central Calhoun High School Auditorium in Lake City.

Renowned historian and author Darcy Maulsby will be moderating the public forum.

The format of the event will allow candidates to introduce themselves, before answering several questions regarding local issues and topics. Members of the public are allowed to ask questions to the candidates at the tail end of the forum.

If you cannot attend the event and would like to provide the candidates with a question, you can either drop off a note with your question to The Graphic-Advocate’s office at 121 N. Center Street in Lake City or email your inquiry to info@graphicadvocate.com. When submitting your question, you must provide a first name and write it in legible fashion.

The deadline for submitting questions to The Graphic-Advocate is set for 4 p.m. this Friday.
