Mary Hawkins
Mary Kathryn Hawkins, 69, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020, in Boise, Idaho after a lengthy, brave battle with both a cancerous, kidney surgery and an open-heart surgery.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and loving staff of the ICU at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Boise, who took such great care of our loved one. The support they gave was so appreciated and above and beyond. Mary was born on Dec. 29, 1949, in Lake City, Iowa and raised, with her two sisters, in Rockwell City. She was a member of the Rockwell City Presbyterian Church. Most of all, Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and daughter who took great pride in her family. Her smile was never bigger than when she was visiting, and sharing life’s joys with her loved ones and good friends from her work.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Deuel, her sister, Karen Kleemeier, and her mother, Viola Walker. She leaves behind her children, Rodney (Mary) Hawkins, Rachelle (Scott) Klocko, and Ryan Hawkins; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild (with one more on the way); sister, Nancy Laughlin; her father, Robert (Teresa) Sexton; and many other relatives who will fondly remember her addictive laughter and kisses goodbye. A private, graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 5 at Rosehill Cemetery in Rockwell City with immediate family only.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent, in Mary’s name, to the American Heart Association at 5000 Westown Pkwy #340, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
