Sweet Corn Daze celebrates 10th anniversary this weekend
Until 2009, Rockwell City was somewhat left out of the town festival landscape. While other places, such as Gowrie, Lake City, Lohrville, Lytton and Manson had a weekend full of events, life within the county seat of Calhoun County was quiet – save for the Calhoun County Expo.
Now, entering its first decade of celebration, Sweet Corn Daze is a summer staple at Rockwell City.
Starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday and rolling until 10 p.m. on Saturday night, the 10th annual Sweet Corn Daze is a good reason for people traveling on Highway 20 to pull off and travel a few miles southward to get a taste of the Golden Buckle on the Corn Belt. It would be northward, should curiosity seekers take Highway 4’s northward bound lane off of Highway 175 in between Lake City and Lohrville.
To those who reside in Rockwell City, the first weekend of August is highlighted when it comes to fun and entertainment.
