Nearly 60 percent of South Central Calhoun School District voters cast yes ballots in Tuesday’s levy vote.
The proposed Physical Plant and Equipment Levy will raise about $5 million to build a new gym at the elementary school, improve the student services areas at that same building and improve the locker rooms at the high school.
Of the 917 votes cast, 547 were in favor of the levy, with 370 cast against it. Nearly 200 people cast absentee ballots before Tuesday’s polling places opened.
These results remain unofficial until the Board of Supervisors canvasses them, likely next week. Pick up the April 11 edition of The Graphic-Advocate for more information about the project and the next steps toward construction.
