Village Square Theatre celebrates 40 Years

By:
John Smith

The Lake City Alumni Association gave a donation to the founding board of interested individuals soon to be known as the Village Square Theatre.
In January 1979, by-laws had been written and the necessary legal work had been done to make the group a non-profit incorporation. In June 1979, in conjunction with the Lake City Alumni Association, the Village Square Theatre staged their first dinner theatre in the Lake City Community Building.
It was acclaimed an overwhelming success. Village Square Theatre had begun its 40-year history of providing theatre and entertainment to the community and surrounding area.
During its 40-year history, Village Square Theater has produced shows in Auburn, Breda, SCC Middle School in Rockwell City, Opportunity Living, the Lake City Community Building and the Fanny Howell Auditorium (High School Auditorium).
