Two protesters were arrested Saturday afternoon, following a series of protests against the Dakota Access pipeline in Calhoun County.
Calhoun County Sheriff Bill Davis said state troopers arrested former legislator and pipeline opponent Ed Fallon and Des Moines resident Cyndy Coppola on land Coppola’s family owns near Somers.
No court dates for Fallon and Coppoloa were listed on the state court website Monday morning. Davis said the two did post bail following their arrests.
Davis said he also investigated a comment made by a pipeline worker to a group of protesters on Preston Avenue; The Graphic-Advocate witnessed that incident. The protesters were walking toward a construction site when a man in a truck asked the group, “How much for the little girl,” referring to a young woman. Davis said the comment did not rise to a criminal incident, but he did speak with a pipeline supervisor about it.
