Twin Lakes Lodge seeks lease term changes

A representative of the Twin Lakes Lodge unsuccessfully lobbied for changes in a proposed lease between the Masonic group and Calhoun County.
Members of the lodge and the Board of Supervisors have spent several months discussing the terms of the lease. The Board of Supervisors earlier this summer voted to pay to replace a furnace serving the lodge, which is located on the top floor of the building which also houses the Calhoun County Public Health Department. In return, supervisors asked the lodge members to pay a nominal $50 a month rental fee.
Board member Scott Jacobs reiterated his belief during the Aug. 25 meeting that the fee was more of a loan repayment for the new furnace than an actual rental fee. The county previously leased the space to the lodge for $1 annually. The lodge previously owned the building.
