South Central Calhoun’s varsity softball season opened up Wednesday, May 23 against West Bend-Mallard in West Bend in non-conference action, and it was the Wolverines escaping with a 7-6 victory.
The Titans fell behind early as the Wolverines scored once in the bottom of the first to go up 1-0, but SCC tied the score in the top of the third.
WBM would regain the lead quickly, however, by scoring a run in the bottom of the third. In the top of the fifth inning, SCC would take the lead at 5-2 as the Titans scored four times, but the Wolverines again quickly responded with four runs to regain a 6-5 advantage.
The Titans tied the score at 6-6 in the top of the sixth, but WBM would plate the eventual winning run in the bottom frame to hold off SCC by a 7-6 final.
