It was a balanced offensive effort that helped lead the South Central Calhoun Titans varsity football team to a 42-28 triumph over IKM-Manning in Manning Friday, Sept. 1 as SCC improved to 1-1 for the 2017 season. The Titans amassed 413 total yards for the contest — 211 yards on the ground and another 202 through the air.

“This was a much better team effort than last week, and we were fortunate enough to come away with the victory,” said SCC head coach Bryan Case of the win at Manning. “Our kids worked hard and we saw some improvement throughout the game. I thought we also showed a glimpse of what this team is really capable of, but we need to find some consistency within our play. It’s nice to have a win like this one under our belt as we head into district play. This should give us some much needed confidence moving forward.”

On the ground, Jonathon Frantz finished with 15 carries for 100 yards while Tanner Macke had 74 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns including a 40-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 4-yard run in the fourth period. Also adding touchdowns on the ground against IKM-Manning were Chase McAlister on a four-yard run with 4:01 left in the first period, and Hunter Muhlbauer on an 18-yard run for the first points of the contest with 7:41 left in the first period.
