Titans fall to Kuemper in regional final

Second-ranked Kuemper Catholic held off the South Central Calhoun Titans varsity volleyball team in the 2017 Class 3A, Region 2 Regional Final Monday, Oct. 30 in Denison as the Knights ended the Titans season at 35-8 overall with a 3-0 sweep. Match scores were Kuemper Catholic winning 25-15, 25-14 and 25-10.
The Knights (38-2) advanced to take on Iowa Falls/Alden Thursday, Nov. 8 in the quarterfinal round of the 2017 Class 3A State Volleyball Tournament held in Cedar Rapids.
South Central Calhoun finished the match 35-for-40 serving with only one ace. Teylor Anderson was 8-for-8 serving for SCC while Maddie Jones finished 7-for-7 and Maia Schossow was 4-for-4. Emma McKinney finished 2-for-4 serving with an ace and Hannah Seil was 8-for-9 serving while Heidi Hammen was 6-for-8 at the service line against the Knights.
