Titan girls qualify seven events for state track

A total of seven events for the South Central Calhoun varsity girls track team have qualified for the 2017 Class 2A Girls State Track and Field meet to be held Thursday, May 18 through Saturday, May 20 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
SCC had four relays and three individual events earn state berths at the 2017 Class 2A State Qualifying Meet held Thursday, May 11, at Panora. The Titans sprint medley captured first place and the 4x100 relay, 4x200 relay and distance medley relay all earned second place automatic berths at the qualifying meet, while Allison Birks earned at-large state meet berths in both the 100 meters and 200 meters, and Kaylynn Ridgely earned an at large berth in the long jump.
For the state qualifying sprint medley for SCC, it was Jessica Hicks, Maddie Jones, Keagan King and Sydney Batz posting the winning time of 1 minute, 53.06 seconds, a season’s-best time at Panora and a first place effort at the meet. The SCC sprint medley will run in the finals at the state meet Saturday, May 20 at 9:12 a.m.
