Calhoun County residents who use a bridge near the Pocahontas County line have offered mixed feedback on the bridge’s closure, Engineer Zac Andersen told the Board of Supervisors Sept. 12.
“I’ve had some people call and say they’d rather see it closed,” Andersen said, adding those residents are happy that large trucks are no longer coming down their road.
Supervisor Mike Cooper raised concerns about the closure, brought to the board’s attention a week earlier during a conference call with the Pocahontas County Board of Supervisors.
“Louis Stauter wants it opened back up,” Cooper said. “He’s quite vocal. Even if you keep the load (to a) 10 ton limit, there’s a lot of stuff below 20,000 pounds.”
Cooper said he would like Andersen to make progress in inspecting the bridge and determining what it would take to repair the bridge.
