When Jacob Siepker sees a need, he tries to fill it.
“I just feel like there’s always a space where something can be done, can be improved,” said Siepker, a 2018 Manson Northwest Webster High School graduate who is studying at DePaul University in Chicago this fall.
This past summer, Siepker and his friend, Matt Helmers, a MNW junior, had long discussions and debates about politics and current events. Those conversations morphed from arguing about their personal beliefs to a desire to engage more of the community in the political conversation, particularly as it relates to state legislators.
“Beyond what their political party is, I don’t think a lot of people know who (state legislator) are as individuals,” Siepker said.
To help remedy that, Siepker and Helmers have scheduled a candidate event for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at South Central Calhoun Middle School.
