Stewart Memorial Community Hospital has been a community cornerstone for Calhoun County for nearly 70 years. Now, the hospital – with the community’s support – believe it’s time for an upgrade.
“The vision for this ‘Putting People First’ project began three years ago,” said Cindy Carstens, Hospital CEO/Administrator.  “Over the past year we have talked to the community to get their input on our renovation and expansion plans and now we are in a position to move forward on this exciting vision.”
The hospital will have extensive design changes including significantly improved emergency and therapy departments, dramatically enhanced patient privacy and overall better security. The overall cost for the entire project is estimated to be $31 million. The majority of the funding will be in USDA long-term financing.
However, $2.25 million needs to be raised in private contributions.
