A Manson-based gas and diesel retailer has added a way for customers to give back to law enforcement officers in Calhoun County.
Star Energy FS unveiled its “Help Fuel the Thin Blue Line” campaign this month, a fuel credit card that donates 3 cents per gallon of fuel purchased to the Calhoun County Peace Officers Association.
“We were very grateful that we were chosen to kick off the campaign,” Rockwell City Police Officer Mike Anderson said. “We would like to see this campaign (be geared) toward training and education.”
The Peace Officers Association represents all 31 Calhoun County law enforcement officers, plus the Calhoun County Attorney, Anderson said. The organization’s budget is limited, but with the anticipated donation, Anderson said hopes are high for some of the projects that can be funded in the future. If the program raises enough money, Anderson said the association has even discussed paying for the county’s first K9 unit.
