The Southeast Valley Jaguars and the South Central Calhoun Titans may be opponents on the field, but the Jaguars honored a Titan and his family Friday afternoon in Gowrie.

The Jaguars selected Earl and Kerri McAlexander of Rockwell City to serve as the Homecoming parade grand marshals, and students will spend this year raising money, collecting pop tabs and performing service projects for the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines. It’s all being done in memory of Jacy McAlexander, senior Morgan Castenson said.

“I really hope they understand they are not alone in fighting cancer,” Castenson said. “They never lose our thoughts.”

Castenson said she didn’t know Jacy McAlexander, who died in May of Ewing’s sarcoma. But many of her classmates at Southeast Valley did, either through athletics or 4-H.
